Connect your own AI

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way AI assistants use other apps. Connect Mosso once, then ask for animations from the assistant you already have open. They come out in your brand, as Lottie, dotLottie, animated SVG or Mosso project files.

What you need

• A Pro or Team plan. Connecting your own AI is part of both.
• For the apps that run Mosso on your computer (Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor): Node.js 20 or later. Claude Desktop extensions bring their own.

Claude Desktop

1. Open Settings, then Developer, then Edit Config.

2. Add Mosso to the file that opens. The last folder is where your files will be saved:

3. Quit Claude Desktop and open it again. Mosso shows up in its list of tools.

Claude Code

Run this in your terminal. Files are saved in the folder you run Claude Code in.

Add --scope user to have Mosso in every project, and check it with claude mcp list.

Cursor

Add this to .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project:

ChatGPT and Claude on the web

Apps on the web connect to Mosso over the internet instead. Add a custom connector in the app's connector settings and paste this address:

https://app.mosso.video/api/mcp

The first time the assistant needs your account, it opens a Mosso sign-in window. After that, what it makes is saved to your Mosso projects, ready to open in the editor.

Any other MCP app

Any app that runs MCP servers works the same way. The command is npx -y mosso-mcp. Add --output-dir and a folder, or set MOSSO_OUTPUT_DIR, to choose where files go.

• "Make a loading spinner in #3a5bff and #16c2a3 and save it as a Lottie file."
• "Find a confetti animation and make it in our brand colours. Save it as dotLottie."
• "Make a launch post for Instagram that says Version 2 is here, with a calm feel."
• "Make the success check slower, loop it, and export it as an animated SVG."
• "Make a 9:16 version of it and save both files."

Where the files go

On your computer, Mosso only ever writes inside the one output folder, and never replaces a file unless the assistant asks it to. Files never contain expressions, so they are safe in every player. MP4, GIF and WebM need a browser to draw every frame: export a Mosso project file, open it in Mosso and export the video from there.
